Open engagement
Open engagement of societal actors involves expanded collaboration between researchers and actors outside the research community. It means opening up the practices and tools of the research process to make research more inclusive and accessible to society at large. This can take place through new forms of collaboration, such as citizen science, crowdfunding, and on-going evaluation and research. Open science can thereby strengthen the dialogue between researchers, policymakers, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and citizens, and allow more actors to contribute to research that responds to their needs and experiences.
