What is open science?

Open science is about making research open, inclusive, and useful for everyone. The work involves different ways of making the processes that generate, evaluate, explore, and preserve scientific knowledge, practices, and perspectives more accessible.

The three main areas for advancing research quality and societal impact:

1. Scientific knowledge that is accessible and reusable for all.
2. Increased scientific collaboration.
3. Open processes for creating, evaluating, and communicating scientific knowledge.

Open science spans all fields of research and scientific disciplines. In Sweden, a transition towards an open science system is underway, aiming to strengthen knowledge exchange and to enable researchers, policymakers, and the public to co-create new knowledge together.
